Ipswich Town Football Club Chief Executive and former Team GB Chef de Mission Simon Clegg is amongst eight dignitaries who have been recognised by a local university with Honorary Doctorates or Fellowships.
University Campus Suffolk, based in Ipswich, announced honorary awards for eight people all of whom have links to the region including local entrepreneur William Kendall, actress June Brown and editors of both local newspapers, Nigel Pickover of the Ipswich Evening Star and Terry Hunt of the East Anglian Daily Times.
Commenting on the award, Simon Clegg said: “I am honoured and flattered to have been recognised in this way by my local university. Suffolk is a very special county and this award is a fine testament to the esteem in which the club is held and the support and contribution we make to our local community.”
Clegg has been chief executive of Ipswich Town Football Club since 2009.
